ANM Bhanwari Devi Case : Court sends back Maderna-Malkhan to jail
Jodhpur, Feb 4 : A special court here today ordered for shifting back to jail, former Minister Mahipal Maderna and fellow legislator Malkhan Singh--accused in infamous case of abduction and killing of controversial auxiliary nurse midwife ANM Bhanwari Devi-who presently are admitted at private hospital here.
The Special Court(SC/ST Act) delivered the order on an application moved by the CBI for the shifting.
The CBI told the court that as per the High Court order, the duo who have been under the judicial custody in the case for past more than a year, were transferred from Jodhpur to Jaipur and Ajmer jails respectively for security reasons.
However, they had later returned Jodhpur to get admitted in a private hospital on the pretext of taking medical treatment for diseases by which they actually are not suffering, the agency had stated.
Being influential persons, they might influence witnesses here and therefore they should be transferred back to their respective jail, the prosecution pleaded.
The court sought report on their treatment from the hospital and after studying the same, delivered the order today.
'If needed, they could be provided treatment at the government hospital there itself', the court held.
The controversial ANM, who reportedly was having illicit relation with Maderna and Malkhan Singh, was abducted from Bilara on September 1, 2011 and later killed, CBI probe so far has held.
This abduction and killing had triggered big political upheaval in the ruling Congress and resulted in sacking of Maderna from the Cabinet.
