New Delhi, Feb 4 : Even as the demand for an early decisionon a separate state of Telangana gathers steam, Andhra PradeshChief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today met Congress presidentSonia Gandhi to hold consultations on the issue, sources said.
Sources said Mr Reddy held deliberations with Ms Gandhi along with her political secretary Ahmed Patel at her 10, Janpath
Earlier in the day, Mr Reddy also met party general secretary
in charge for Andhra Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The meeting between Mr Reddy with the top leadership of the party came after a delay in the resolution of the issue from the
one month deadline mentioned by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde
on December 28.
The Central Government has attributed the delay to need for
consultations with more stakeholders.
The delay in the resolution of the issue has led to pro-Telangana activists intensifying their agitation for the separate state and demanding an early decision on the issue.
The activists have said they would block highways and organise a 'Chalo Assembly' to press for an early decision.
The Congress has, however, said it was not against the formation of Telangana but that further consultations are needed on the issue.
