New Delhi, Feb 4 : The Planning Commission has agreed to extend by two years the time period for completion of the Bansagar Canal Project in Uttar Pradesh, an official spokesman said here today.
The extension will not, however, involve any increase in the cost of the project for which investment clearance was accorded.
The project shall be completed in the 2013-14 financial year and Plan accounts would be closed by March 31, 2015.
''The Project may accordingly be executed as per the approved outlays in the state Annual Plans,'' the spokesman said.
The state finance department would restrict the expenditure to the approved cost and no additional expenditure may be permitted unless the revised estimate is got approved, the Planning Commission said.
