CWG scam: BJP demands action against Sheila Dikshit
New Delhi, Feb 4 : Welcoming the framing of charges against former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi and nine others in a corruption case related to the 2010 Games held in Delhi, the BJP today demanded action against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also.
''The Shunglu Committee had blamed the Delhi government for irregularities in the Commonwealth Games. Action should also be taken against the Sheila Dikshit government,'' BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
Mr Prasad said the Shunglu Committee, which was constituted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to examine the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report pertaining to the Games, had recommended action against the Delhi government.
Mr Prasad said the Prime Minister had assured Parliament that appropriate action will be taken on the committee's report.
''The BJP would like to know whether the Prime Minister will allow the CBI to fairly and honestly investigate the role of the entire Sheila Dikshit government as far as massive irregularities relating to the preparations are concerned,'' the BJP leader added.
He alleged that the Central government was misusing the CBI.
A Delhi court today framed charges against Kalmadi and nine others for illegally awarding a contract with conspiracy to cause a loss of Rs 90 crore to the public exchequer in a Commonwealth games-related graft case.
