By Pragya Mukherjee, Kolkata, Feb 5 : Marking the World Cancer Day on Monday the Westbank Health and Wellness Institution arranged for an awareness campaign and organized walk for Cancer, here.
The awareness campaign started from Golpark and continued till Park Circus Maidan.
Well known celebrities like percussionist Bikram Ghosh, film director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, elocutionist Bratati Bandopadhyay, music composer Debojyoti Mishra, actor Debshankar Halder and actor Kunal Padhy joined the walk.
Onco Surgeon of Westbank Healthcare, Partho Sen said, "Prevention of cancer depends on the person himself. There are certain signs and symptom of various types of cancers. If people could be aware of those signs and symptoms, they themselves can find out problems so that they can see a doctor or go for a thorough check up."
Sen added, "Cancer is curable so our initiative is to aware people about those signs and symptoms. One should avoid smoking, rich and spicy food. If one has an indigestion problem which is happening for a long time then one should take suggestions of a doctor."
Director of Westbank Health and Wellness Institution, Asish Chakraborty said, "Cancer can be treated if detected early. We suggest people to follow a proper diet, go for regular checkups and lead a healthy lifestyle."
