Kochi, Feb 2 : The Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala today demanded that Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson P J Kurien resign from the post in the wake of certain allegations levelled against him in the infamous Suryanelli sex scandal case.

"In the wake of the Supreme Court order setting aside a January 2005 Kerala High Court judgment acquitting all 35 persons except the prime accused S S Dharmarajan in the Suryanelli sex scandal case and the fresh letter by the victim in the case to explore the possibilities of arraigning Mr Kurien too as accused, he should resign from his post and face it legally," BJP Kerala Unit President V Muralidharan told UNI.

He also suggested that since the apex court had set aside the High Court order acquitting all the 35 accused in the case and ordered to hear the appeal afresh and dispose it of in six months, Mr Kurien should also be included in the accused list before starting the new trial in the case.
