16 teams to vie for honour in Football Premier League

Kochi, Feb 1 : Sixteen teams in the country would cross swords in the second edition of the Indian Sevens Football Premier League, which will kick off from February 12 at Prembavoor, in the district.

Informing this at a news conference, N Sports Director Sebin Mathew said, besides his company, Kerala Tourism, Field Publicity, Nehru Youvakendra, state youth welfare board, Kerala Sevens Football association and Ernakulam district Panchayat were the sponsors and the title sponsors would be Boby Chemmannur.

Besides football, food festival, folklore, fashion, fusion, fiction and film would be the added attraction and a temporary gallery with a seating capacity of 15,000 were under construction, he said and claimed that this would be the first football carnival in the country.

Along with the football leave, corporate league for IT-new generation companies, women's league, Political league, in which MPs and MLAs would be the players, would also be organised, he added.

Though the tournament had started only in the last year, it had received the best football event award and the best district football tournament, he added.

Claiming that the event would find a place in the Limca Book of Records and Indian book of Records, he said the screening to select the event would be held this edition.
