Alappuzha, Kerala, Feb 2 : A series of international seminars will be held as part of Coir Kerala 2013 for two days from February 2.
The morning session on the first day will be inaugurated by Minister for Home and Vigilance Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan at 1000 hrs in the presence of senior officials, including Jose Cyriac, Chief Secretary to the Government, Rani George, Secretary (Coir) and K Madanan, Director of Coir Development, an official statement said here today.
Dr Rajesh Anandjiwala, Chief Researcher and Research Leader, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, South Africa, will present a paper on 'Natural Fibre Composites - Prospects and Potential for Developing Value Added Products' German Designer Verena Schaetzlian will speak about and demonstrate handicraft making with Coir Fibre.
The afternoon session will discuss about coir and its uses in interior design and will be inaugurated by Minister for Tourism A P Anil Kumar.
National, International and Theme pavilions will be open on all days of the event from 1000 hrs to 1800 hrs.
Cultural programmes will begin at 1900 hrs with a 'Nrittanrityavismayam' performance by dancers from Kerala Kalamandalam followed by a 'Mallari Fusion Music' show.
