Volvo Auto India registers growth of 240pc
Kolkata, Feb 1 : Swedish luxury car maker Volvo Auto India has registered a record growth of 240pc in January 2013, compared to the corresponding period last year.
It sold 75 cars in January 2013 as against 26 units in January 2012.
The highest ever year-on-year (YoY) growth was primarily driven by sales of Volvo S60 (luxurious sporty sedan) and Volvo XC60 (A technologically advanced compact luxury SUV).
Commenting on the performance, Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, said, "We are very happy to have a great start to the New Year. We closed 2012 with almost a 150pc annual growth and now a very promising start of 2013 with another record 240pc YoY growth in January."
"We would continue with our strategic associations and expansions in the country as we believe that India holds tremendous potential for our brand and want to make sure that we fully capitalize on the opportunities available while providing the best possible services for our customers with the best value at the most competitive prices," Ernberg said.
