New Delhi, Feb 1 : The Hindi version of Kamal Haasan's much hyped as well as controversial film 'Vishwaroopam' has hit the theatres across New Delhi and Mumbai and some other cities on Friday. Long queues were spotted outside theatres to watch 'Vishwaroop' in these two metropolitan cities. In Kolkata the response is warm too.
Kamal Haasan, who has received immense supports from his fans all this time, is likely to get a good opening in the theatres as his fans asserted that they would watch the film for the southern superstar.
The screening of the first show was reportedly delayed at PVR Saket due to technical reasons.
But that did not discourage the fans from watching the film, who turned up in front of the theatres at 9:45 am for the show that was scheduled for 10:30 am.
Many fans also left after authorities said the show has been cancelled due to technical reasons.
However, the screening began later after a small delay.
Hasaan's fans also clarified that they were not watching the film due to the controversies related to it, rather they were looking forward to watch the film for the superstar.
Although, no one can deny the interest that has been ignited by the disputes and court ban on the film.
Meanwhile, Haasan is expected to commence his first round of talks with several Muslim groups on Friday in an attempt to and sort out the controversies over his spy thriller 'Vishwaroopam'.
Earlier on Thursday Hasaan thanked his fans for supporting him during the ongoing dispute with the Tamil Nadu government over the release of his film 'Vishwaroopam' in the state over its alleged content that has been branded as anti-Muslim community.
Thanking his fans and media, he had said: "I am overwhelmed, grateful and touched by the support of the fans...The amount of support I got from Muslim community was unbelievable."
He had also urged the people of the country to not to 'disrespect' artists.
"I am requesting to India that we have lot of work to do to take the country forward and these kind of squabbling will not take us forward," Haasan had said.
However, the superstar said he was not sorry for saying that he would leave the country.
"If this happens again, I would seriously think of leaving the country...I am not threatening. I am hurt," Haasan had said.
Vishwaroopam is written, directed and co-produced by Haasan that features him in the lead role.
The film also has Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles.
The film, which is a 95 crore project was shot in many locations, including largely in USA, while sets resembling Afghanistan were constructed in Chennai.
