'Focused' Johnson downplays bowling all rounder tag
Sydney, Jan 31: Australia pace man Mitchell Johnson has played down talks about his status as an emerging all rounder in the Test team, saying he is more focused on his bowling.
Johnson struck the winning runs as Australia's No.7 during the final Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month, with the left-arm quick assigned with more batting responsibility in a five-man bowling attack, News.com.au
However, the 31-year-old admitted his chief goal was to keep taking wickets, with any runs scored off his bat as bonus
Johnson said he thinks he is getting talked into this a little bit, with the all-rounder type of thing.
Johnson further said that primarily he is a fast bowler and that's what he wants to do i.e. go out there and bowl fast, get wickets and do a good job for our team.
He added that he loves his batting and tries to bat as well as possible during a match, but reiterated that his man goal is always to bowl well.
Johnson is likely to lead Australia's pace attack during Friday's one-day series opener against the West Indies at the WACA Ground.
