New Delhi, Jan 31 : A delegation of Jet Airways and Etihad Airlines of UAE led by their top officials met Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma on Thursday amid media reports of Jet Airways' selling a stake to the Abu Dhabi based airline following the liberalization of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in aviation sector.
Jet chairman Naresh Goyal and President and CEO of Etihad Airways James Hogan met Sharma.
The delgation briefed the Minister about their plans in India in the wake of liberalization of FDI regime in the aviation sector.
Sharma said "we have put in place an enabling policy and any investment under the policy is welcome."
Sharma is visiting Abu Dhabi on 17-18 Feb for the first meeting of the India-UAE High Level Task Force on Investment, for which Sharma is the co-chair from the Indian side.
The co-chair from the other side is Sheikh Hamid Al Nahayan of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).
Earlier, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh also met the officials of both airlines and spoke on the possible deal between the two.
Media reports earlier said Etihad could pick up 24 percent stake in Jet Airways with an investment of USD 330 million.
