Kolkata boutique launches summer drapes

By Barshali Banerjee, Kolkata, Jan 31 : With the winter going to say goodbye any time soon despite the chill persisting for long this season, Kolkata based fashion hub 'Niine by Niine' has launched its latest collection keeping the hot and humid summer as well as spring in mind.

Niine by Niine, which opened a year ago in Kolkata, on Wednesday showcased before media in a preview its special ranges of summer collections as well as wedding occasion apparels.

Lehengas, sarees, salwar suits, kurtas, accessories for both the men and women are on the list to fascinate the fashion lovers from all age groups.

Sonia Kripalini, the creative head and the owner of Niine by Niine, told IBNS, "Indian ethnic dresses have enough reasons to boast of. Being a designer I tried to give a contemporary touch to my collections which can be worn in wedding and in different occasions. But I maintained the traditional approach. So my designs are the unique mixture of splendor and ethnicity."

The designer said she has thoroughly balanced between tradition and trend focusing on the selection of the pure fabrics like raw silk, kinkhab along with the trendy textiles like chiffon, georgette or crape that would come with the pastels, nudes and also vibrant shades in magentas, greens, reds etc.

''In the latest summer collection there will be a lots of lehengas and drapes in chiffons, and as the wedding season is in its full bloom and approaching summer will be emerging soon , reducing the use of heavier fabrics I have used lighter fabrics'' informed Sonia at the event.

Kolkata models sashayed in the designer wears by Sonia at the event. They wore sarees, lehengas, long evening gown in plums while men were in kurtas and sherwanis raising the glamour quotient of the collection.

The designer said the prices range from Rs 800 to Rs 8000 for all the classes. It is 'pocket friendly' shopping opportunity for the shopaholics, according to the designer.
