Governor, CM pay homage to Gandhi

Chennai, Jan 30 : Floral tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 66th death anniversary today.

Tamil Nadu Governor Dr K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and various leaders paid floral tributes to a decorated statue of the Father of the Nation on the Marina.

Later, the Governor administered the pledge against untouchability to the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan.

At the State Secretariat, Ms Jayalalithaa administered the pledge to her Cabinet colleagues, MLAs, officials and state government employees.

An all religion-prayer was also held to mark the occasion.

At TNCC Headquarters Sasthyamoorthy Bhavan, Congress leaders, and workers paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.
