Police cycle rally held in Kerala for awareness on 'crimes' against women

Kannur, Kerala, Jan 30 : The district police gave a rousing reception to the state-wide cycle rally organised by the KeralaPolice to create awareness about atrocities against women here today evening at Police parade ground.

The ten member police team was led by P A Saleem, Superintendent of Police.

It reached Kannur town around 1830 hrs today. The rally was flagged off yesterday from Kanhanghad in Kasargod district by Home minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan.

It would end at Thiruvananathapuram on February 23. Film artist Kumari Sanusha inaugurated the reception

function at the Police parade ground.

She said the new generation was not aware much as they do not follow the traditional Indian culture.

The crimes against women would be checked only when the people realise the importance of cordial relations as brothers and sisters. Then only the women could live in peace and this cannot be achieved through act or rules.

A P Abdullakutty, MLA presided over the function. Kannur range Inspector General of Police Jose George presented the mementos to participants of the cycle rally and District police Chief Rahul R Nair, Vanitha cell Circle inspector Swarnamma, District Panchayat President K A Sarla, Municipal Chiar person M C Sreeja, Thalassery Sub collector Anupama and other top district police officials also attended the function.
