Five people with arms, ammunition arrested from Indo-Bhutan border

Siliguri, Jan 30 : Five people with arms and ammunition were arrested from Gopimore of Indo-Bhutan under Jaigaon block in Jalpaiguri district, police said today.

The arrest and seizure of arms were made at a time when West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is touring the region since yesterday.

Alipurduar police chief Biswathakur said the arrest was made yesterday following specific information about the movement of five people with arms and ammunition. Four revolvers, eight rounds of bullets and two magazines were seized from them.

He said a local court has remanded them to 10 days police custody after an appeal was made from the law enforcing agency that it required further investigations.
