18th All India State Election Commissioners conference in Ranchi from
Ranchi, Jan 30 : Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed will inaugurate the 18th All India State Election Commissioners conference which will kickstart from February 1 here.
During the two-day event (February 1 and 2) Chief Election Commissioner of India V S Sampath will also be present as the special guest.
'It is for the first time the conference is being held in Jharkhand and the event will also be the first where Chief Election Commissioner of the country will participate,' Jharkhand Election Commissioner S D Sharma said in a press conference here.
He said 21 state elction commissioners alongwith senior officials of the Union Panchyati Raj Ministry, Law ministry and Urban Development ministry will participate, he said.
Adding further, Mr Sharma said 'Continued Dialogue on Electoral Reforms' is the central theme of these event. Apart from that, discussion of proper implementation of Model Code of Conduct and Voter Education will also be taken up during the two-day meet.
Mr Sharma said an exhibition of news articles showcasing the Panchayat Elections of 2010 will also be showcased at the event which will be inaugurated by Mr Ahmed.
The event will be held at Hotel Radisson Blu in the state capital.
