Chennai, Jan 29 : DMK President M Karunanidhi today said the Indian Government should support the US-sponsored resolution to be moved against Sri Lanka in the UN Human Rights Council meeting in March for indulging in war crimes

Replying to set of questions, he said US Foreign Secretary James Moore had said the US would move a new resolution in the UN Human Rights Council after Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse did not act on the earlier resolution adopted by the Council last year

Mr Karunanidhi recalled that on DMK's insistence the Indian government supported the resolution then and it was passed in the UN Human Righrs Council meeting

"Since the Lankan government had not acted as per the resolution and it still continues to act against it, the US said it will move a new resolution in UN Council in March this year," he said

"The Indian government should supprt the resolution when it is tabled in the UN Council in March this year and ensure that it is passed," he said
