Govt will protect interests of Kannada people: Shettar
Bangalore, Jan 29 : Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar today assured, Kannada people by saying their the interests in other States will be protected
He said Tamil Nadu has placed Kannada to third language and steps would be taken to see that injustice was not done to the students
"I will hold talks with neighbouring States to ensure that the students would not suffer," Mr Shettar said while participating in a function organised by Kannada Development Authority (KDA) here
Mr Shettar warned saying that officials who adopt opposition to Kannada language will attract disciplinary action
KDA Chairman Mukyamantri Chandru in his address said the Tamil language may have to be placed as third language in Karnataka as was done by Tamil Nadu
He urged the Chief Minister to take action against 250 officers who are adopting anti-Kannada attitude
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Kannada and Culture Govind Karajol said there is need to create job opportunity for Kannada students studying in other states
Minister for Primary and Higher Education Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri stressed the need for a dialogue between Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and taking a decision on placing Kannada as third language
