ISPO world Congress in Hyderabad from Feb 4

Hyderabad, Jan 29 : The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO)-2013 World Congress will be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) here from February 4 to 7

The 14th edition of the World Congress will be the first-ever Prosthetics and Orthotics (P and O) conference and exhibition in India and the South Asian region

ISPO is an advisory body in the field of Rehabilitation and P and O to WHO, UN Agencies and the International Committee of Red Cross

The premiere multidisciplinary, international event will showcase the latest equipment, facilities, technology and solutions that can bring in positive changes in the lives of people with disabilities and allied health issues, ISPO President Jan H B Geertzan in a release here today

Over a 1,000 delegates from 84 countries would participate in the event that would also see more than 100 exhibitors from across the world

A record number of free paper sessions would also be presented in the event and so far 474 abstracts from 48 countries have been accepted by ISPO, he said

"ISPO is a global multidisciplinary organisation aiming to improve the quality of life for persons who may benefit from prosthetic, orthotic, mobility and assistive devices

For 40 years, ISPO has provided an effective platform for exchange and communication on all aspects of the science and practice associated with the provision of prosthetic and orthotic care, rehabilitation engineering and related areas

With India as the host country, many people from this region will have the best opportunity to participate in our World Congress," said Dr Geertazn

The event is expected to create awareness regarding the latest changes in the field of rehabilitation education and present global networking opportunities in the fields of rehabilitation and allied health sectors, as well as enhanced scope for innovation and development of appropriate designs indigenously leading to affordable products and components for our people, Dr Geertzan said
