Training Centre for Fireworks to be set-up: Jaya
Chennai, Jan 29 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced setting up of a training centre at Sivakasi in the southern Virudhuangar district to prevent mishaps in fireworks manufacturing units
An official statement said the Chief Minister had already announced setting up of a mobile monitoring committee to monitor the functioning of cracker manufacturing units and prevent loss of lives during the fire mishaps
Noting that training played a key role in preventing mishaps, the Chief Minister announced setting up of a training centre in Sivakasi to provide adequate training to the workers of cracker manufacturing units
It said the Centre would provide industrialised training to the supervisors and other staff in the safe handling of chemicals and hold training sessions through experts
The centre was temporarily set up at the campus of Kaleeswari Government Arts College
With a view to provide a permanent building to house the Centre, the Chief Minister today allocated Rs 2.36 crore for this purpose, besides sanctioning enough manpower
