Jaya okays Rs 4.10 cr for ITIs upgrade

Chennai, Jan 29 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today sanctioned Rs 4.10 crore to upgrade and renovate four Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state

An official statement here said, out of the 62 State-run ITIs in the state, 58 were functioning from own buildings

"Since most of these buildings were constructed four decades ago, the government led by Ms Jayalalithaa has decided to give fresh lease of life to the facilities by renovating them," it said

In line with this decision, class rooms, labs, toilets, wiring, flooring, ceiling, water and other facilities would be renovated and upgraded

New and modern equipment would also be purchased as part of this renovation and upgradation works, it added

The release said the Chief Minister had already ordered to undertake these works in 11 ITIs and allocated Rs 10.90 crore

"Today she announced that these works would be taken up in four ITIs at Pudukottai, Virudunagar, Guindy and Ambattur and earmarked Rs 4.10 crore for the purpose," it added

Of the total Rs 4.10 crore, Rs 2.05 crore would be used for building maintenance and the rest for purchase of to new machinery
