Centre nod for Land transfer for Vyasi Hydro-power Project Phase-I
Dehradun, Jan 29 : Union Environment and Forest Ministry has approved first phase of land transfer for 120 MW Vyasi Hydro-power Project and the work would soon begin on the project, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today said
Describing it the first priority of the State Government, Mr Bahuguna told reporters in New Delhi today that the project would make the State self-sufficient in power sector
The 420 MW Lakhwad-Vyasi Multipurpose Project was started by Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department in 1987. However, it was stopped due to some inevitable reasons. After inception of Uttarakhand this project was allocated to UJVNL by Uttarakhand Government in 2008. The decision was taken to complete the 120 MW Vyasi Hydro-power Project in the first phase. UJVNL had submitted reviewed report of the project to Central Power Authority in July 2010 and techno-economic approval was granted in October, 2011
Managing Director, UJVNL, GP Patel said Forest Advisory Committee had approved in principal the proposal of UJVNL in August, 2012. The first phase of approval was given after recommendation by Environment and Forest Minister
Chief Minister Bahuguna had urged the Union Environment and Forest Minister for the approval of first phase. The Project will be completed by 2016 after which 375.24 MU power will be generated, an official release said here today
