CIC directs Mah Govt to provide information to applicant
Mumbai, Jan 29 (UINI) After several lapses on the part of the irrigation department in providing activist Anjali Damania with information on dams in the state, Maharashtra chief information commissioner has ordered the principal secretary to take disciplinary action against all the public information officers and the first appellate authorities
He also directed the irrigation secretary to ensure that Ms Damania gets the information she has asked for, a statement said
The order was passed by Ratnakar Gaikwad, state chief information commissioner on January 22 this year, after Ms Damania filed her application
Mr Gaikwad has directed the principal secretary of the irrigation department to take disciplinary action against all the PIOs and FAAs of the irrigation department by February 28 and submit a report on the same
The order stated 'The applicant has sought information that is of great public interest. It comes across that the officials were not interested in providing her information
This shows that they have disobeyed the RTI Act, and it is important that action be taken against all PIOs and the FAAs
