Hyderabad to host National T20 for deaf

Hyderabad, Jan 28 : Several international cricketers drawn from 15 states will vie for honours when the inaugural National Deaf Twenty-20 Cricket Championship gets underway in Hyderabad tomorrow

Being conducted jointly by the Deaf Cricket Association (DCA) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), the five-day event will be inaugurated by former Test cricketer, V V S Laxman, at the Gymkhana Ground

HCA administrators decided to host the event when the DCA approached them with the proposal. In order to accommodate more fixtures, matches will simultaneously be held at Ibrahimpatnam Ground

The teams have been drawn into four pools, which will battle it out on a league-cum-knockout basis. The top four teams from each pool will make the semifinal grade. The event concludes on February 3

Dronacharya awardee, S M Arif, and Arjuna awardee, Mir Khasim Ali, will be the special invitees

Meanwhile, a combined Andhra Pradesh team is being fielded for the event. T Yadagiri will be the captain of the team while Syed Riyaz will be his deputy

Participating teams: Jharkhand, Delhi, Karnataka, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Bihar, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh team: T Yadagiri (Captain), Syed Riyaz (Vice-Captain), K Satish Kumar, Y Rajesh Paul, T Hari Krishna (WK), Chiranjeevi, B Raju, Md Valiuddin, V Balasamba Murthy, Rahim, Aijay (WK), Ch Edukondalu, Moses, Anil, K Pradeep Naik, Abdul Gaffar, K Pavan Kumar and Md Azharuddin.
