School students suffer as micreants play mischief
Kannur, Kerala, Jan 28 : Twelve students, including girls, of Aroli Government Higher Secondary School near Pappinissery experienced itching all over the body due to 'Nayakorna podi' (the powder of a medicinal plant called Negretia Pruriens) sprinkled on the desks by some miscreants during the holidays
All the students were taken to Pappinissery Health Center (PHC) this morning and discharged after treatment
Miscreants had also damaged labortary equipment and other study materials of the school. The itching started when students, sitting on the benches, kept the hands on desks
Teachers and school staff rushed the students to the PHC
Valapatnam police registered a case as per the complaint of the headmaster and search was on to nab the miscreants, police said
The school reopened today after the weekend
