Kerala village set exemplary record by multiple organ donation pledge
Kozhikode, Jan 28 : Nondescript Cherukulathur village in this district of Kerala has set yet another exemplary record by offering multiple organ donations to help the needy live a normal life
Ace dancer Mallika Sarabhai declared Cherukulathur a multiple organ donation village after as many 1,700 villagers inked their willingness for the purpose at a function here last evening
The letters were handed over by M T Ravindran to writer K E N Kunhammed, who presided over the function
Apart from this, many of the villagers, including former Panchyat president K R Subramanian offered their bodies to the Kozhikode Medical College to study
Their consent letters were also handed over to the MCH Anatomy department Assistant Professor Govinda Raju by Puthanparambath Purayil Krishnan Nair at the function
Workers of the K P Govindankutty Memorial Library and Reading Room took the initiative for the mass donation
The village was in news when it pledged 1500 eyes in 2003
