Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 27 : To find a solution to the health issues of women commuters due to absence of clean and hygienic toilets in public places, Kerala State Women's Development Corporation Ltd. (KSWDC) will set up electronic toilets for women in 23 locations in the capital city
'She-toilet' is a first-of-its-kind innovation in the country by KSWDC, the agency in-charge of overall development of women in the state. In the first phase, KSWDC in association with the City Corporation will install the state-of-the-art 'She-toilets' - designed to cater to all the sanitation needs of women - in major city centres, tourist locations and places where women gather in the capital city
The project will be rolled out in all districts of the state in subsequent phases. Some of the locations selected for the installation of the toilets include, Women and Child Hospital, Thycaud; University College, Palayam; Government Women's Polytechnic College, Kaimanam; Vettucadu Church; Ulloor Parking Area; Medical College, Rajadhani Road, East Fort and the Corporation premises. The women-friendly automatic and unmanned toilets come equipped with stations for changing baby diapers, sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators, along with self-washing and sterilisation functions.
