Anthrax caused the death of a cattle at Kunnamangalam in Kozhikode district of Kerala a few days ago, authorities today confirmed.
Talking to UNI Chief Veterinary Officer Dr John Kattakkayam said laboratory test at Chief Investigation Office, Palode, Thirvanthapuram had confirmed that the death of the calf on January 21 was due to anthrax.
Samples had been sent for test as the sympton shown by the cattle was suspected to be the dreaded disease, he said.
Stating similar sporadic incidents were reported from the adjoining areas, he said preventive measures were taken to contain it affectively.
