World number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus defended her Australian Open women's title by defeating Li Na of China here on Saturday.
Azarenka clinched the title by defeating her opponent by 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 margin.
The match lasted for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Li Na, who suffered an ankle injury in the second set and again hit her head in the third set, had won the first set against her opponent by 6-4 margin in the crucial final match.
Azarenka had defeated Maria Sharapova of Russia to lift the Australian Open women's title last year.
