Asaduddin Owaisi granted bail in 2005 case
A local court in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday granted bail to Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM) leader and MP Asaduddin Owaisi in connection to a case of 2005 when he allegedly obstructed widening of a road because it called for removal of a religious structure.
The court directed him to appear before it on Feb 2.
Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday surrendered himself in a court in Hyderabad in connection to the case.
He was sent to judicial custody till Feb 2.
He was lodged in the Medak district jail.
A non-bailable warrant was earlier issued against the MIM lawmaker for never turning up in the court for hearing of the case despite repeated summons.
Asaduddin Owaisi is accused of preventing the widening of road where a mosque was situated and intimidating officials.
Earlier this month MIM leader and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, who is the brother of Asaduddin, was arrested for his inflammatory speech against Hindus in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh.
