'Will concentrate on positive politics' says Rahul Gandhi after formally taking charge as Congress VP
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday formally took charge of the office and promised not to criticise other parties, saying he wanted to concentrate on practicing positive not negative politics.
Addressing media persons ahead of his first meeting with party general secretaries and heads of various departments at the Congress headquarters here, Gandhi said he wanted to take the Congress family forward and usher in change in the country.
"Our entire environment of politics is acrimonious. I want to get into positive politics, because that will take this country forward. The Congress Party is the best instrument for change, the best instrument to bring youngsters into politics, and I want to try and use this instrument to bring change and make it accessible to youngsters," said Gandhi.
The 42-year-old Member of Parliament was elevated to the number two position in the party at the party's Jaipur's Chintan Shivir conclave last weekend.
