BSE Sensex gains on earnings optimism

The BSE Sensex rose 0.23 percent on Wednesday as optimism from quarterly earnings reports pushed stocks higher.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 45.04 points higher at 20,026.61 with 16 of its components closing in the green.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.10 percent or 5.80 points higher at 6,054.30 on Wednesday.
Cellphone carrier Bharti Airtel surged after the company announced a raise in call charges while blue chips advanced on promising quarterly reports.
