BSE Sensex slips on profit-taking, blue chips
The BSE Sensex fell 0.60 percent on Tuesday after some prominent stocks declined over disappointing quarterly results and investors booked profits on outperformers.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 120.25 points lower at 19,981.57 with 21 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.56 percent or 33.80 points lower at 6,048.50 on Tuesday.
Profit-taking on recently rallying stocks and declines on some major scrips such as Hindustan Unilever dented the day's trade.
Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold rose by Rs 40 to Rs 31,290 per 10 grams while silver slipped by Rs 300 to Rs 59,300 per kg.
