Owaisi's judicial custody extended
An Andhra Pradesh court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi by another 14 days till Feb 5 in connection to a hate speech case.
Owaisi was produced before the Munsif Magistrate's court in Nirmal town after his 14-day-judicial custody ended on Tuesday.
He was sent back to Adilabad District Jail after the court extended his judicial custody.
On Jan 8, the MIM leader was arrested on charges of delivering a hate speech in Adilabad last month.
Owaisi faces a number of charges including sedition, waging or attempting to wage war against the state, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, and for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings.
