West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said she had met the Prime Minister 10 times over a particular issue but to no avail and now, she probably had no other option but to go and beat him up.
Of course, it was all in jest.
Speaking on the rise in price of diesel and fertilizers and the cut in subsidized cooking gas quota at a public meeting here, Mamata said, "I met the Prime Minister 10 times on this issue. Aar ki korbo? Maarbo giye? Manusher jonyo last obdi jete pari. Gele to bolbe aami goonda (What else can I do? Resort to beating? I'm ready to do it for the people. But if I do, they'd call me a goonda)."
Mamata is know for her not-so-cordial relation with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whom she had mimicked on a television interview.
