A Delhi court will today pronounce the quantum of punishment for former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay, who have been recruited in a teacher-recruitment scam, reports said.
Thousands of Chautala's Indian National Lok Dal activists reportedly gathered outside the Rohini court on Tuesday morning ahead of the verdict and the police had to lathi-charge to disperse those who tried to break police barricades.
On January 16, the Chautalas and 53 others were convicted of recruiting 3,206 junior basic trained teachers between 1999 and 2000 in exchange of money.
The former chief minister faces up to seven years in jail.
