Manti Te'o to give first on-camera interview about girlfriend hoax
Manti Te'o, the Notre Dame linebacker at the center of an online hoax involving his non-existent girlfriend, will sit down for his first on-camera interview this week with Katie Couric.
Couric announced on her Twitter account that the interview - which will see Te'o speaking on camera for the first time about the hoax - will air on Thursday on the "Katie" show, the Huffington Post reported.
His parents, Brian and Ottilia Te'o, who also haven't spoken out since the story broke, will also answer questions.
Te'o gave an off-camera interview with ESPN on Friday night, defending himself against allegations that he was somehow involved in the online scheme.
The Heisman Trophy runner-up said he had an online romance with a woman he never met and in September was informed that the woman died from leukemia.
Te'o told ESPN that the person suspected of being the mastermind of the hoax has contacted him and apologized.
