BSE Sensex rallies on earnings
The BSE Sensex rose 0.31 percent on Monday after blue chip companies exceeded quarterly earnings expectations, stoking investor sentiment.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 62.78 points higher at 20,101.82 with 17 of its components closing in the green.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.30 percent or 17.90 points higher at 6,082.30 on Monday.
Strong quarterly results by benchmark heavyweights Reliance Industries and ITC boosted confidence in Indian firms.
Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold recovered by Rs 25 to Rs 30,935 per 10 grams while silver recovered Rs 200 to Rs 59,400 per kg.
