Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 'favourite' mother goddess temple at Deori in his home- state Jharkhand, where the billionaire cricketer had offered special prayers before and after Team India's sensational ICC World Cup win in 2011, still awaits the fulfillment of his 'promise'.
President of the temple re-construction committee Manoj Panda told newsmen today that the Indian captain had promised 'help' in the reconstruction of the temple situated just beside Tata-Ranchi highway around 65 km from Dhoni's hometown Ranchi.
"We have not heard anything from his side as yet. He had last visited the temple on October 6 year along with wife Sakshi for special puja," Panda said.
Dhoni, had also offered special prayers in the temple in December 2009 on the completion of five successful years of his international career. The temple is situated equi-distance from Jamshedpur, the headquarters of Jharkhand Sports Cricket Association and the grooming cradle of Dhoni's early career. The temple was much less known earlier and came to light with Dhoni's rise in international cricket. He used to go and pray there since his days of 'obscurity' in domestic cricket.
Local residents were also not happy with Dhoni's alleged neglect of the temple reconstruction work.
"We are proud of Dhoni and his superb performances but he should not ignore the place by blessings of which he has risen. We are still hopeful that our 'local lad' would ultimately turn up and help us erect a massive structure," Malati Devi, a local resident said.
