'Returning' Philander expected to play in Johannesburg Test against Pak
In form South Africa new ball bowler Vernon Philander is expected to play in the first Test match against Pakistan at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, starting Feb 1.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) convener of selectors, Andrew Hudson said they believe the 13-man Proteas squad, which annihilated New Zealand in their recently concluded Test series, was good enough to do the job against touring Pakistan.
Hudson added Rory Kleinveldt and Jacques Rudolph will again provide the bowling and batting cover if necessary and at the moment there were no injury concerns, Sport24 reports.
Hudson said they were very happy with the job that Kleinveldt did against New Zealand in Philander's absence.
The former Proteas batsman added that Rudolph provides the team with a lot of experience as the cover batsman.
