Now, Owaisi senior surrenders in court
After his brother was arrested for a communal speech this month, MIM leader and MP from Andhra Pradesh Asaduddin Owaisi himself surrendered in a court in Hyderabad on Monday in a case of 2005 when he allegedly obstructed widening of a road because it called for removal of a religious structure.
A non-bailable warrant was issued against the Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM) lawmaker for never turning up in the court in the case despite repeated summons.
Earlier this month MIM leader and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, who is the brother of Asaduddin, was arrested for his inflammatory speech against Hindus in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh.
Asaduddin Owaisi is accused of preventing the widening of road where a mosque was situated and intimidating officials.
The next hearing of the case is on Jan 28.
