52 pc Americans now approve of Obama's job performance, finds poll
President Barack Obama's job approval rating is now at 52 percent, one of the highest ratings he's had since becoming president, a new poll has found.
According to a study by the Pew Research Center, last January, his approval was at a mere 44 percent.
His rating has improved most notably among Democrats and independents. Last year, Democrats rated him at 79 percent, while independents offered him a lowly 37 percent, Politico reports.
Now, Obama has won the approval of almost half of the independents at 48 percent, and Democrat approval has jumped 9 points to 88 percent.
Republicans aren't so enamored with the president, however, their approval has increased only one percent over the past year, from 13 percent to 14 percent.
Obama's personal image is also intact. His favorability rating is currently at 59 percent, the highest it's been since late 2010.
It is, however, still much lower than it was when he took office in January 2009, when 79 percent of the Americans viewed him favorably.
