BSE Sensex climbs on oil, IT
The BSE Sensex rose 0.74 percent on Thursday after oil stocks rallied on a government move to allow raising of diesel prices.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 146.40 points higher at 19,964.03 with 19 of its components closing in the green.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.62 percent or 37.35 points higher at 6,039.20 on Thursday.
Shares of export-driven software services firms also surged after a streak of strong quarterly results.
Meanwhile in the bullion market, gold slipped by Rs 90 to Rs 30,550 per 10 grams while silver fell by Rs 45 to Rs 59,265 per kg.
