In an effort to popularise and develop the sport of sailing which already has a tradition here, Tamil Nadu Sailing Association (TNSA) will host the OZFest fiesta in the Bay of Bengal off the world famous Marina beech here on January 19.

Announcing this here, TNSA communique said national champions K C Ganapathy, Varun Thakkar, Varsha Gautham, Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan, Hussain Bhavnagarwala and Rufus Patrick will be sailing the Australian designed and built 29er boats on the waters near the Marina beach, providing colourful spectacle to those present there.

Australia where the sport has a strong base, is also helping to develop the sport in countries like India through their 'emerging nations' programme. TNSA had acquired 29er class of boats in India for the first time in 2009 during the first India International Regatta Competition. This class of boats is meant for youth who later train to sail in the bigger Olympic class boats.

Tamil Nadu sailors are the reigning champions in 29er class of boats.
