Jaya vows to root out 'evil forces,' establish Tamil Nadu's rights
Accusing DMK President M Karunanidhi of attempting to betray Tamil Nadu interests on issues like Mullaperiyar and Katchatheevu besides seeking to destroy the ruling AIADMK, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today vowed to realise the vision of AIADMK Founder MGR while rooting out the 'evil forces.' Addressing a gathering at Kothagiri in Nilgiris after unveiling a statue of AIADMK Founder and Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MGR, Ms Jayalalithaa recalled the attempts of Mr Karunanidhi to spread canards and capture power during the State Elections even as MGR was convalescing in a US hospital.
To counter this, she undertook an intensive election campaign which put paid to the DMK President's hopes of becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
She claimed after MGR's demise, Mr Karunanidhi made every attempt to ensure the AIADMK was destroyed. The party's symbol was frozen, the party office sealed and the party itself was split into two.
Ms Jayalalithaa said she took all efforts to unite the party, ensured the symbol was de-frozen and the seal on the party office removed.
