P Nedumaran, President of Thamizhar Desiya Iyakkam, has strongly condemned Karnataka's alleged attempt to delay gazette notification of the final award of the Cauvery River Water Disputes Tribunal by placing objections before the Union Government.

Addressing the press here last night, Mr Nedumaran said it was unfortunate Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda had gone to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to object in this regard.

To a question, he wanted the Union Government take responsibility for the loss of samba crop in Cauvery delta Districts of Tamil nadu.

'If the Union Government had intervened after Surpreme Court's order for release of water and forced Karnataka to release water, things would have been different.

'So, the Union Government should take the responsibility and pay relief for samba (crop) loss,' he added.
