After a gap of 20 years, commercial air services to Puducherry resumed today with the arrival of a Spice Jet aircraft carrying 35 passengers from Bangaluru.
The flight which took off at 1210 hrs in Bangaluru, arrived here at 1310 hrs. It left for Bangaluru at 1330 hrs.
Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy, his cabinet colleagues and Deputy Speaker Selvam, among others, greeted the passengers giving them flowers.
They also gave a send off to 35 passangers to Bangaluru.
The Puducherry airport was operating commercial flights from 1988 to 1992.
Thereafter, it was used for landing chartered flights and training before resuming commercial operations again today.
