Benitez says true Chelsea fans appreciate his work
Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has claimed proper fans of the club always appreciate his work and wants him to succeed with the Blues.
Benitez has become the target for vicious abuse from protesting fans during recent home defeats by QPR and Swansea and the Spaniard is already steeling himself for more of the same during Wednesday's Premier League clash with Southampton, the Sun reports.
However, the former Liverpool boss said he will not let his judgment be clouded by criticism and refutes suggestions fans are willing him to fail.
Benitez said every proper fan of the club wants Chelsea to win, adding some of them will show more or less passion but everyone wants the Blues to beat Southampton.
He added that his priority is not to think about himself but about the team winning, adding that on Tuesday when he was coming back to London after seeing his family, a few Chelsea fans on the train told him that they were pleased with how he was working.
Benitez said the fans see he is a professional and appreciate what he wants to do, adding that he only looks at the positive side after any game.
