Rs 11 Cr project for cleaning Alappuzha Canal

The Kerala Government today sanctioned a Rs 11 crore project for cleaning canals in Alappuzha Town using sea water.
A meeting convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy accepted a detailed project report aiming to preserve the canals naturally by using sea water.
The meeting also decided to call for tenders for the project.
Salinity of the water will be increased by pumping in sea water.
Budgetary provision will be made for cleaning up 113 related canals.
